Quality healthcare and patient safety have always been our top concern. For this reason, we take very seriously that the Department of Public Health temporarily closed our offices for what they believed to be "unsafe and unsanitary practices." We sincerely apologize for all inconveniences that this may have caused you.
We do not completely agree with their characterization of us as being "unsanitary and unsafe." For instance, we want you to know that Center For Dermatology regularly, currently and has always, for the past five and a half years, used Empower to scrub clean our instruments. EmPower contains detergents and is a 4% neutral pH, low-foaming dual enzymatic presoak and cleaning solution designed to remove blood, mucous and other organic and inorganic soils from the surfaces of instruments. Microorganisms may hide in blood, mucous and other organic and inorganic soils, so Empower also removes these. EmPower is non-corrosive and safe to use on medical and surgical equipment. The Department of Public Health did point out that our staff should regularly use a heated apparatus, known as an Autoclave. We intend to fully comply with this requirement. We want you to know that cleaning instruments with a solution, such as Empower, is a critical step. Without such cleaning, first taking place, merely placing instruments in an Autoclave, is ineffective.
We are embracing this time as an opportunity to improve all our policies and procedures and to become the best dermatology practice in the state. We have already made most of the recommended improvements, and are well on our way to making the rest. But we don't intend to stop there. It is our intention to carefully evaluate every aspect of our services, and to strengthen each and every one.
We value you as a patient and value the trust that you have placed in us. For that reason, we will welcome any suggestions you may have to improve our services to you. Please give us a call at 302-677-1273 or drop us a note, via mail or email, to let us know your thoughts.
We expect to re-open shortly. If you have an emergency need that cannot wait until that time, please seek treatment, as soon as possible. If not, it is our hope that you choose to wait.
We will be updating the website periodically with accurate, relevant information about the practice. We are looking forward to serving you soon again and thank you for your loyalty.
